You’re warmly invited to join us for our next history morning:
Date: Wednesday 27 May 2026
Venue: Hunters Hill Council Chamber
Time: 10:00 am
We’re delighted to welcome guest speaker Megan Wurth, who will share her personal memories of growing up in the grounds of Gladesville Hospital. Megan’s father, Dr John Collins, served as a psychiatrist and Deputy Medical Superintendent at the hospital, and her family lived in a hospital house in Crown Street, Henley from 1965 until 1980.
Megan will take us on a photographic ‘walk through’ Gladesville Hospital, exploring its significant buildings and the many recreational and therapeutic facilities available to patients during this era — among them the swimming pool, tennis courts, oval, canteen, concert hall, pottery studio, printing workshop, greenhouses, and boat-building shed. It promises to be a fascinating and warmly personal account of a remarkable period in the hospital’s history.
And to make a full morning of it, the Annual Hunters Hill Art Show will also be running in the Town Hall nearby— well worth a visit!
